Can a song really
make a difference?…

Ask the Freedom Riders who sang “We
Shall Overcome
” during the Civil Rights
movement in the southern U.S., or the Union
Organizers who sang “
We Shall Not Be Moved
” while striking for recognition and decent pay.
Ask the South Africans, who sang their
forbidden freedom-songs in their long fight to
end Apartheid. All will tell you that these
songs
lifted their spirits, kept hope alive,
sustained them in their struggles
and
MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE.
I have a box of letters, which attest to how
music can make a difference in someone’s
life. At a time of need a certain song helped
someone get through his or her desperate
hours.
So go to it,
find and listen to your inner
voice. Write from the heart about whatever
you find in there
and who knows, one day
you may hear from some distant soul saying
“I heard your song, it moved me and made a
difference.”
