When & Where

When and where do young writers meet?

In Ontario, SASS invites students in grades 6-12 to join free, extra- curricular
songwriting clubs in dozens of schools in Pickering, Ajax, Oshawa, Stouffville,
Courtice, and Whitby.

An updated list of which Ontario schools will be offering this program in
2009-2010 will follow, soon.

Ontario students look forward to a weekly forum for trying out their new material
at lunch or after-school. Approximately once a month, SASS also sponsors
guest songwriting clinics during the school day, led by professional songwriters.

Many times a year, SASS schools host inter-school recitals so young artists
can network and inspire each other.  To be kept up-to-date on events, please
consult our
Events page.

The last Friday evening of each month in the school year, SASS students are
welcomed by Giocomo Bruno to Isabella's Chocolate Cafe's Open-Mic. from
7-10 p.m.  To register to perform, please e-mail organizer, Darlene Voogt, at

In New Westminster, Port Moody, Coquitlam, and other communities near
Vancouver, B.C.,SASS mentors and music educators incorporate SASS
songwriting workshops even more regularly in their music classes to fulfill the
creative requirements of their band, guitar, or vocal music courses.
