back to the SASS mentor program in the schools for this limited-edition recording only. (In past contests, there was not a large
pressing of CDs and participants have donated back from $20 - $50 worth of mechanical rights. However, each writer/performer
received an average of over $2000 worth of professional studio work. This request reflects the limited SASS secretarial hours
available to keep track of small amounts.)
____I understand that, if I am one of the top three winners, I will be awarded a high-end, radio-ready production with lead vocals
recorded by me or a chosen friend, approved by both me and the producers of the SASS CD. I understand that SASS will pay all
production and professional musician costs and present me with a CD of the finished track as part of my prize package. This top-
level recording will remain my own throughout my lifetime, to use as I wish.

3. Chorus - 5 marks
4. Build, progression - 3 marks
5. Hook - 5 marks
6. Bridge - 2 marks
7. Groove - 3 marks
8. Ending - 2 marks
9. Song length (2 ½-4 ½ minutes) - 3 marks
10. Thematic development - 5 marks
11. Overall quality and impact- 5 marks
12. Singing ability on recording (pitch, warmth, tone) – 5 marks
13. Production: (Sufficient clarity and volume on the vocals and overall balance to allow the melody to be heard) - 5 marks
14. Live performance on Saturday, June 9, 2012, 7 p.m. at Donald Wilson S.S., 681 Rossland Rd., Whitby (Top ten contestants will be
judged on stage presence, delivery, vocal pitch, tone, quality and range.) -25 marks

2012 SASS Free Song Contest Instructions If you have a song for this year's song contest, your SASS Club Teacher will provide you with an entry form. You may also copy and paste the form below into your own word document, attach it to an e-mail with your mp3 and send it back to sass@sasscanada.net or print it out, complete it at home, and mail to the address at the bottom of this page.
